84 players (28 teams) gathered to play our 3 Ball Alliance at Great Barr Golf Club. What a lovely surprise we had seeing the course looking so green, a testament to the skills of the Great Barr grounds team, after the long, hot summer we have had.

The black clouds overhead in the early morning luckily cleared away, and by the time of the 1st Tee at 10 am the weather was behaving, which continued throughout the day.

The summer run on fairways we have all become accustomed to was reduced due to recent rainfall, but that didn’t stop good scores being made on the day. The winners were as follows:

1st place 79 points – H.Lowe, A, Stockdale, S. Penfold

2nd place (on CB) 77 points – P.Hale, G, Curley, J.Deeley

3rd place 77 points – C.Bailey-Thomson, J. Brocksopp, F. McGuigan

4th place (on CB) 76 points – D.Pursell, G. Douce, Y.Cope

5th place 76 points – R.Rowe, A.Fern, S.Roberts

Nearest the Pin – A.Stockdale

Congratulations to the winners, especially Andrea claiming 1st prize and nearest the Pin.

Feedback from the competitors included positive comments on the course, food, and the warm welcome from all those from Great Barr. The club support was exceptional, especially the Professional, Lady Captain, and the two gents who saw all 28 Tee times off at the start.

The Lady Captain asked me to pass on her thanks to all the competitors for supporting the club’s charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice, raising £207 on the day.

Many thanks for taking part in the event, and we look forward to seeing you all again in 2027.
